Frequently Asked Questions

What is SHRT.email?

SHRT.email is an alternative email, webhost, and cloud storage solution that offers users an affordable package without any of the data tracking that comes with larger providers (particularly those offered by search giants).

[PROVIDER] gives me email and storage for free. Why pay SHRT six bucks a month?

With other providers, the users are the product. They offer free services in exchange for the ability to sell your metadata and information to advertisers for massive profits. SHRT is different. We offer a package with all of the features you need almost at cost. Is a cup of coffee worth your privacy?

I'm not happy. Can I cancel?

If you really want to cancel, you can do so on the account management page. We'll be sad to see you go, but it's entirely up to you.

Oh no! I've lost my password! Can you help?

Simply enter your @shrt.email address here and you'll get an email with a reset token to your recovery email.

What can I host on my subdomain?

The subdomain is strictly limited to static websites. PHP is not enabled for security reasons. Anything you can do with HTML and Javascript, though, is fair game. Have fun with it. I suggest hosting a personal portfolio website.

Why am I limited to a 4-character username?

Email addresses have gotten long. With how long other providers have been active and handing out addresses, it's impossible to get a short, sweet, and personal address these days. SHRT.email was inspired because of this conundrum. Gone are the days of typing out big_corgi_fanatic83@longemail.com everytime you register. Also, with the global aliasing of your subdomain, you can set whatever long email address you want there and have it forward to your short one automatically. This is great for setting up filters and signing up for sketchy websites, by the way.

What's next?

SHRT.email will never stop innovating. Right now, we're in the larval stage. Just wait and more will come. Right now, the next project is building out a nice user portal so that users can manage their own subscriptions instead of reaching out if they need to make any updates.

I really need something else! Who can I talk to?

If you have any other questions at all, just send them to dkb@shrt.email. You'll get an answer as soon as possible. You can also join the Keybase team and chat with me and anyone else in the team.

Also, if you forgot anything from the welcome page, you can always view that again.
